Pet for Vet Adoptions - Coming Home WellOn Saturday, 11 January 2020, Coming Home Well partnered with Nelson County’s Almost Home Animal Shelter to ring in the New Year at Devils Backbone Brewing Company with their first adoption event of the year.

On a mission to match adoptable dogs with military veterans, Almost Home Pet Adoption Center brought several dogs who were eager to meet their future battle buddies.

Despite the rain, numerous visitors stopped by to meet the dogs, enjoy a beer, and good food. We are pleased to report that two of the dogs have potential adopters.

If you are a veteran looking for a pet companion and could not make it to this Vet Pet event, see our Vet Pet Adoption page for details. Participating shelters include:

The Vet Pet Adoption Program

The Vet Pet Adoption Program was established by Coming Home Well to connect veterans with companion animals to help ease depression and anxiety and work towards ending the epidemic of veteran suicide. Coming Home Well’s goal is to see that every community offers veterans an opportunity to adopt a rescue animal, at no cost, thus saving two lives at once.

Participating shelters waive adoption fees. Find a participating Vet Pet shelter near you!
