John Donovan

Major John Donovan is the Board Chair of the Recovery Community Network (RCN) in St. Cloud, Minnesota.  John co-founded the RCN in 2014. It is an organization devoted to serving and advocating for the recovery community of Central Minnesota.  John is a person in long-term recovery with over 40 years of recovery. He is a highly decorated 27-year veteran of the Armed Forces and has deployed three times in the service of our nation since 9-11. He holds an associate’s and bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University and a master’s degree from Boston University. John is an active and energetic advocate for recovery. He is a popular speaker and workshop facilitator. He contributes monthly to two recovery blogs, and he co-hosts a recovery radio show with Kelly Cordes on WJON AM-FM. The show explores all things recovery related and airs once a month. John’s book, “A Soldier’s Recovery Journey”, was published in April of 2021.

John is also part of an outstanding concert series titled “What’s Going On – Songs from the Vietnam War Era” this is a moving concert experience that incorporates a multi-media deep dive into the 60s and early 70s and of course, the Vietnam War. Through song, imagery and narration this concert examines the tumultuous time period along with hope and inspiration for a better tomorrow.
