Veteran Et Cetera is a podcast meant for those interested in understanding veteran lives from its distinct culture of the warrior at Home. Confused by media misrepresentations of Veterans? Are you asking yourself where the veteran’s voice was after the war? This podcast explores the many narratives/counter-narratives of veteran and military life to better understand veterans and their lived experiences. Because there isn’t a Veteran Civilian Divide, just lack of awareness of veteran culture. Host, Mike Kim, has been researching the “veteran readjustment culture” in and out of uniform since the early 90s as a war vet, ex-monk, seasoned war trauma therapist, and writer. Each week Mike will share his contemplations on unfolding issues, events, media production, Et Cetera tied to veteran lives. Additionally, Mike will feature intriguing veterans and civilians tied to daily life and outlier expressions of veterans.

Mike Kim
Mike Kim is a psychoanalyst, ex-monk, combat veteran and retired US Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Center site director/lead war trauma readjustment counselor with more than 20,000 clinical hours in facilitating war trauma therapy. He has helped veterans, active/reserve military personnel and their families since the early 1990’s. Mike began his military service in 1986 and he has intermittently served in the U.S. military through 2009.
Mike is a graduate of Norwich University – The Military College of Vermont, Yale University, and the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma. He is passionate about his research in war trauma/readjustment and veteran/military culture from an interdisciplinary cultural studies approach at Teachers College, Columbia University as a doctoral candidate.
