VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Position Summary:

The TWF Breakfast Ambassador plays a vital role in fostering a supportive and engaging community for Veterans and First Responders. This position requires a friendly and outgoing individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to plan and host monthly breakfast events. The Ambassador will be responsible for all aspects of event coordination, from identifying sponsors and securing speakers to welcoming attendees and ensuring a positive and productive environment.

Key Responsibilities:​

  • Event Planning & Coordination:

    • Plan and execute monthly breakfast events for Veterans and First Responders.

    • Identify and secure potential sponsors for breakfast events.

    • Schedule engaging and relevant speakers for each monthly breakfast.

    • Coordinate logistics for each event, including securing venues, setting up and breaking down the event space, and ensuring adequate food and beverage service.

  • Guest Relations:

    • Greet and welcome all speakers, sponsors, and attendees with enthusiasm and professionalism.

    • Foster a positive and relaxed atmosphere conducive to networking and engagement.

    • Assist attendees with any questions or concerns they may have.

  • Community Outreach & Marketing:

    • Market the monthly breakfast events to the community through various channels (e.g., social media, local media outlets, community newsletters).

    • Maintain up-to-date contact lists for all attendees, speakers, and sponsors.

  • Administrative Support:

    • Follow up with attendees who request information from speakers or other resources.

    • Maintain accurate records of all event-related activities.

Qualifications:​

  • Personality: Friendly, outgoing, and enjoys interacting with people.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

    • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    • Resourceful and proactive in identifying solutions and overcoming challenges.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    • Consistent, reliable, and flexible in meeting deadlines and adapting to changing circumstances.

  • Experience (These are ideals only. A heart to serve and learn is needed the most) :

    • Experience in event planning or coordination (preferred).

    • Experience working with Veterans or First Responders (preferred).

    • Experience in community outreach or marketing (preferred).

This is a volunteer position that requires a passionate and creative individual with strong social media skills and a commitment to supporting the mission of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:​

  • Social Media Management:

    • Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with the organization’s overall marketing and communication goals.

    • Create engaging and informative social media content (e.g., text posts, images, videos) across various platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn).

    • Monitor and respond to social media comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.

    • Track and analyze social media metrics (e.g., reach, engagement, website traffic) to measure campaign effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

    • Stay up-to-date on social media trends and best practices.

  • Community Engagement:

    • Utilize social media to build relationships with followers, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

    • Encourage social media sharing and user-generated content.

    • Participate in relevant online conversations and communities.

  • Event Promotion:

    • Promote upcoming events (e.g., fundraising events, workshops, volunteer opportunities) through social media channels.

    • Utilize social media advertising to reach a wider audience.

Qualifications:​

  • Passion: Strong passion for the mission of the Transitioning Warrior Organization and a desire to make a positive impact.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their best practices.

    • Proficient in using social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).

    • Ability to create visually appealing and engaging content.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience:

    • Prior experience managing social media accounts for personal or professional purposes.

    • Experience with graphic design or video editing (preferred).

    • Experience working with non-profit organizations (preferred).

The Volunteer Event Ambassadors will play a vital role in supporting outreach events by assisting with the planning and execution of various veteran service organization events, including resources fairs, vendor events, and community outreach initiatives. This is a volunteer position that requires an outgoing, people centered, organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for supporting the  mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • On-Site Representation: Serve as the “face” of the organization at resource fairs, community markets, and vendor events, providing a warm and welcoming presence.

  • Event Execution: Assist with the physical setup and breakdown of information tables, ensuring all banners, brochures, and promotional materials are professionally displayed.

  • Community Engagement: Proactively engage with attendees, veterans, and first responders to explain the foundation’s mission and direct them toward available resources.

  • Resource Navigation: Familiarize yourself with our core programs to help bridge the gap between community members and the services they need.

  • Lead Coordination: Efficiently collect contact information from interested individuals, potential donors, or prospective volunteers for future follow-up.

  • VSO Collaboration: Interface professionally with other Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) and community partners during shared events.

Qualifications

  • Interpersonal Skills: Natural ability to connect with diverse groups of people; must be comfortable initiating conversations in a public setting.

  • Mission-Driven: A genuine passion for supporting transitioning veterans and first responders.

  • Organizational Skills: Sharp attention to detail, especially regarding event logistics and maintaining an organized information booth.

  • Reliability: Consistent attendance and punctuality for scheduled event shifts.

  • Independence: Ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision once given a briefing.

  • Physical Ability: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry event materials (up to 25 lbs) as needed.
